I'm tempted to say, "so what?". Aeron, Leap, Chadwick, HAG Capisco - none were even close to making my budget for this year. I bought a yoga ball after a few days in a cheap chair made my back and joints cry. I suspect I achieved most of the goals you, and many commenters, had, at a cost under $20 (Target had them on clearance when I shopped). I feel much better, and I, too, have an ugly chair.
Besides a good chair, I am sooo happy I invested in a desk that is (electronically) in height adjustable: http://milk.dk (and yes, it looks wicked too!)
By far the best investment ever and it should give me a couple of extra life credits, as I stand 3 to 4 hours behind my desk on a daily basis ...
It's a great chair, amongst many in that price-category. I like the elegance (and roots) of Vitra's latest Physix desk chair.
About the same time John started DF, I started prototyping my ScooterDesk, and 2 years later brought it to market. The key idea behind its inception is more valid today then ever: Sitting all day isn't good for you: The ScooterDesk offers 'seated-standing' as one of the modes you should switch between during the day.
I went with the Steelcase Leap - highly adjustable, very comfortable and built well.

Same here. I've had different Aeron chairs at home and at work for the past 15 years but in terms of adjustments and comfort, they clearly don't compare to the Steelcase Leap. The Leap's armrest are way better and its ability to recline, stay in place and come back to its original position makes the Aeron look like a stiff piece of junk.
