I'm also finding that JavaScript is more understandable as an automation language on OS/X. Less AppleScript magic, for me, means I can understand how to structure the script and use application features.

Structurally superior, but I still find there are confusing differences between apps' libraries. The lack of consistency means I end up spending as much time on JS automation as I do on AppleScript. Frustrating sometimes.

After writing my comment I was poking around with the iTerm2 nightly and finding things that just flat out didn't work (currentWindow, currentSession). So, yes, thanks to the rough shape of scripting support, it's hit or miss no matter the language.
