Was that Winona record store called Face The Music? Grew up in la crescent and I remember going to Winona and buying music there. It was a great record store.

I did this too, in a similar way. I read interviews with bands I liked and when they cited influences I went and listened to those bands. I always have an ear out for something new. (:
