Thank you for this great write up! I've been considering a move to notmuch/astroid because I want to link emails to notes I am taking in org mode. The deletion bit scares me a little because I will need to eventually delete emails off an exchange server. Hi Jay!<br />So I think the migration will eventually be worthwhile, I definitely prefer the notmuch/astroid interface to Thunderbird and other GUI interfaces. However I've not completely migrated yet, have planned to get back to this over the next weekend. The deletion is my biggest issue right now.<br /><br />However, the mails are deleted from the exchange server, it's just that they are not sent to trash, and are instead deleted without any trace, which is something I'm not pleased with.<br /><br />The basic problem is that most clients condition us into delete being a move to trash action instead of "permanent removal", and replicating it is a bit tricky/annoying.<br /><br />I'm glad you liked the post! I hope the rest of the series will be as useful. I'll definitely add a portion on adding notes in org-mode (probably an org-roam template).
