Really nice post, loved the distinction between the two and could relate why I didn't do well in Math as a kid since I was not really interested in doing the generative tasks of practicing or understanding proofs.
Do you think creating a blog post about a topic constitutes to a generative task?
I think it does if the post contains things which require you to think in a Generative way, for example:
- coming up with examples for the concepts you write about
- giving actionable advice based on the concepts
- thinking about inferential distance (https://wiki.lesswrong.com/wiki/Inferential_distance) to structure your post in a way that is intuitive to someone new to the topic.
